# What is Sense? How Sense Works
**Sense** is a bot that allows server owners & admins to broadcast messages to their users via Telegram or SMS. This allows users to get real-time notifications in a different medium than Discord notifications, which are notoriously easy to miss and unreliable. Your Discord community members are also in a lot of other Discord communities. This makes it really hard for them to see your announcements. Rather than trying to tag @everyone and keep pinging them, why not message them directly through a channel that they are guaranteed to see? By allowing your users to sign up with **Sense**, you can send custom messages and announcements straight to your community members phone through SMS or Telegram, which have an open rate of up to 33x higher engagement than Discord push notifications. # Getting Started Adding The Bot To Your Server There are three ways you can add **Sense Announce** to your server: 1. **Sense** can be added to your server by visiting and clicking the "Add to Discord" button anywhere on the page. ![](/files/1PYQqgKetTyjCjpvCz8l) 1. If you already share a server with the bot, you can click it's profile and select the \ "Add to Server" option. # Permissions & Security What Permissions Does Sense Need To Operate In Your Server?
When adding **Sense** to your server you will be asked to authorize the following permissions:\ \ **Manage Channels**\ Sense requires this permission in order to create the 4 necessary channels (see the next section). \ \ **Read Messages**\ Sense needs to read your messages in order to broadcast them! \ \ **Send Messages**\ Sense needs to be able to send messages to populate the channels and keep logging records in the `πŸͺ΅β”ƒsense-logs` channel. \ \ **Embed Links**\ Required in order to embed the Lite & Pro subscription links, and all other embeds like the `πŸ””β”ƒget-alerts` embed.\ \ **Read Message History**\ Again, Sense needs to read your messages in order to broadcast them! This is also a permission for future features where we can produce more robust stats for you on your broadcasted messages sent.

However, note that if you you switch channels and do not click `Keep Current Permissions`, you'll need to manually adjust the roles on the channel to make sure that `Sense` has permissions within it as well. \ \ Here, users can subscribe to your alerts via Telegram or SMS (if you have the *Pro* plan).\ \ If someone wishes to unsubscribe, this is also the location to do so. # Send Alerts Send messages to your users via Sense
`πŸ“¨ ┃ send-alerts` is the broadcasting channel. *Any* messages sent in this embed will be broadcasted to your subscribers. This allows for easy access management. \ \ If you would like to give someone permissions to send alerts in your server, simply give them the permissions to send messages in this channel as you normally would. {% hint style="info" %} **For *****Pro***** plans:** If you send a long message (or a message with special characters such as emojis), this may increase the size of your SMS per person, thus utilizing more credits. {% endhint %} {% hint style="danger" %} **Warning:** Remember to only give permissions to people you want to broadcast to your entire list. {% endhint %} # Sense Logs View all Sense activities related to your server All relevant logging information will be posted in `πŸͺ΅β”ƒsense-logs` automatically. \ \ The following messages are sent to the logs channel.
**Confirmation of broadcast sent**\ How many people it was sent to, how many messages you've sent this month, the message, and the author. \ \ **User Subscribed**\ Alert when a new discord member subscribes via Telegram or SMS, also provides the total number of current subscribers. \ \ **User Unsubscribed**\ Alert when a user unsubscribes from Sense, also provides the total number of current subscribers. # Purchasing a Plan How to purchase Pro or Lite for your server Once you are ready to purchase a plan, click one of the buttons in the `πŸ’³ ┃sense-billing` channel. **Purchasing Lite:** \ **-** Click the "Purchase Lite" button\ \- Click the **"**Click here to Purchase Lite" button, which will take you to our store.\ \- Fill in your payment information, and add your promo code if you have one. \ \- Once your payment has processed, Lite will be automatically applied to your server. **Purchasing Pro:**\ **-** Click the "Purchase Pro" button \ **-** Click the "Click here to Purchase Pro" button, which will take you to our store. \ \- Fill in your payment information, and add your promo code if you have one. \ \- Once your payment has processed, return to your server and click the green "Activate Pro" button. \ \- Read the message sent by the bot, and click "CONFIRM" once you are ready. This will delete your existing "get-alerts" channel and a new one will be created with an embed supporting SMS messages. \ \- You may need to move the new "get-alerts" channel, make sure you select the "Keep Current Permissions" option when prompted. **Cancelling your plan:** \ \- If you would like to cancel your plan, simply click the "Manage Plan" button and cancel your subscription in the online dashboard. \ \- You can also cancel your plan quickly by selecting the alternate plan button, which will show you a red "cancel plan" button. You will need to do this when upgrading from 'Lite'. # How to Subscribe A Users Guide on subscribing to alerts To get started, visit the `πŸ”” ┃ get-alerts` channel in the server that you want to subscribe to. \ \ Select either the "Subscribe via Telegram" or "Subscribe via SMS" **Telegram:** \ \- After you have clicked the "Subscribe via Telegram" button, two more buttons will appear. \ \- Firstly, click the "Add Telegram Bot" option, this will open up a Telegram chat with Sense bot. \ \- Once you have opened a chat with Sense on Telegram, click the "Start" button at the bottom. \ \- Sense will provide you a 6 digit PIN, copy it. \ \- Return to discord, and click the second pop-up button that appeared, "Verify Telegram Code" \ \- Paste the code copied from Telegram into the new pop-up, and click enter. \ \- Done\ Your Telegram and Discord accounts are now linked, so you will not need to repeat this process when subscribing on any new servers. Simply click the "Subscribe via Telegram" button and you will begin receiving Telegram notifications from that server. **SMS:** \ **-** After you have clicked the "Subscribe via SMS" button, a discord prompt will appear. \ \- Enter your phone number, with your country code (+1) \ \-- At this time, only phone numbers from the US & Canada are supported. We hope to support all numbers in the near future. \ \- Once your phone number has been added, you will be texted a verification code. \ \- Copy the code, and return to Discord. \ \- Click the "Verify SMS Code" button\ \- Paste the code copied from the SMS, and click enter. \ \- Done\ \ Your Phone number and Discord account are now linked, so you will not need to repeat this process when subscribing on any new servers. Simply click the "Subscribe via SMS" button and you will begin receiving SMS notifications from that server. \ \ **Unsubscribing:** \ \- To unsubscribe to a server, return to that server and find the get-alerts channel.\ \- Click the "Unsubscribe" button. \ \- Done, you will no longer receive alerts from that server. # Commands Optional Slash Commands **/sense panel add \** This command allows you to add a subscription embed to any channel in your Discord. This is especially useful after an announcement where you're directing your users to sign up -- instead of having them have to go to `πŸ”” ┃ get-alerts`, you can embed the subscribe box right underneath the message! This feature only works for those with a special role: `Sensei`. Simply create a roll with the name `Sensei` (case-sensitive) and add any user who you wish to create panels to that role. That will give them permissions to run the command. Example usage**:** `/sense panel add #announcements` **/sense autorole** This feature will automatically create a role called 'Sense Subscriber' that will sync your subscribers to. This is perfect for gaining the ability to create special channels for your Sense subscribers, linking with whitelist applications, integrating with Zealy (ex. Crew3) quests, and more! You can change the name of the role after you created it. Just make sure to keep the role below the Sense role so that it can sync the role. **/sense disable-autorole** Turn off autorole for your server. **`/sense remove `** This will remove a user from your list. If you cannot find the user by username (ex. if they left your discord server) you may check the logs for their discord ID and use that to remove them from your list. **/sense list** This will download an entire list of all of your subscribers, organized by Discord ID and subscriber mode (SMS or Telegram). Note that we do not provide SMS numbers or Telegram usernames to protect the anonymity of our users. /**sense help**\ \ Issue this command to receive the link to our website for setup instructions **/sense billing** Use this command to show your credit usage of your plan during your current billing period. You must have at least 'View Channel' access to the billing channel in order to run this. **/sense broadcast \** Default mode is the one that comes when you install the server -- the 'embed'. If you'd like to automate your messages that are broadcasted, you can change the mode to 'relay' which makes it so that *any message sent in #send-alerts will be broadcasted automatically.* This is for expert users only as there is no control for what can be sent (length, or otherwise, and may end up using a lot of credits without your knowledge). Great for self-notifications. In addition, under `relay mode`, you can tag the bot in any channel that Sense has Read Permissions in, and it'll automatically broadcast the message that you tagged. # Use Cases Who should be using Sense? **Who should be using Sense?** \ \ Anyone who wants to deliver information to their audience quickly and effectively. \ Users who are subscribed via Sense are 33x more likely to see and engage with your content vs users who are only in your Discord. \ \ We always suggest adding "bonus content" to Sense alerts, such as an exclusive deals, promos, and giveaways, to reward your dedicated community members and to keep them engaged. **Use Cases**\ \ **For Content Creators**\ Boost your engagement and notify your followers to any new videos, podcasts, or tweets you've posted, right as they are posted. \ \ **For Traders & Investors**\ Call-outs can be extremely time sensitive. \ Oftentimes, by the time you see the Discord notification, its already too late. \ Using **Sense,** you allow your users to curate their own stream of information that will suit their needs. Ensure they don't miss a call-out again. \ \ **Get Creative**\ Since Alerts are sent to users directly from a Discord channel, you can loop in other sources of automated alerts for your subscribers, if they are relevant. \ Tweet alerts, Price alerts, Flags, and much more can be integrated to be posted into a discord channel using third party bots or discord integrated webhooks. \ Sense allows you to combine other resources into a one-stop-shop custom alerts tool. \
